Om konserten med Insomnia Taxxi:
The musical piece “The loop“ I plan to work on during the residency is a fragment that will complement the project "Stars in Black Water" - an audiovisual performance dedicated to nature, architecture, places of power of the region where I spent my childhood and adolescence, a small town in southern Ukraine, namely in Oleshki, which has been under occupation by Russian military since February 2022, as a result of which it is experiencing terrible destruction, suffering of local residents, ecocide.
The project “Stars in Black Water” has already been presented in Lithuania (Vilnius. Festival “JAUNA MUZIKA FESTIVAL” 2024), Sweden (Gothenburg “ Falabella_kultur” 2024) Germany (Berlin. KliKerKlub. 2025)
“The loop”
In the focus of the musical episode "The Loop" is a convent built in Oleshki in 1905, which functioned as a shelter for orphaned girls on the territory of which they lived and studied. In the 50s of the last century, the convent was destroyed due to political reasons coming from Moscow, and in 2010 the local community began rebuilding the church on the remains of the original foundation. One of the volunteers of this reconstruction is my father, He personally installed a cross on the church tower. At the time of the full-scale invasion, the church was already functioning as a center of social attraction and only the dome remained to be built. Currently, the building is in critical condition, after the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka reservoir, the church was flooded, the upper floor was partially destroyed by a shell fragment, and it was subjected to total robbery and vandalism.
Thus, the church will relive its fate and we can observe a historical loop
Fika with an artist
WAHOMO is a Ukrainian band crafting a powerful fusion of authentic Ukrainian folklore, progressive rock, post-rock, and psychedelia. The group transforms traditional folk songs into a modern context, creating a deeply Ukrainian sonic identity — fermented through ancestral vocal roots and grounded with a rich, earthy instrumental presence.
Watch & listen: https://youtu.be/nkk8w8noBnM?si=a0iAqbDfpNpbzzUK
WAHOMO’s music is massive, intense, and striking — unlocking forgotten cultural layers and taking the listener on a profound journey of personal and collective self-identification.
About the Band:
WAHOMO was founded in 2018 by vocalist Lyuba Gook and Kyiv-based musician Nikto Niktoev. As the project evolved, other musicians joined the collaboration, and WAHOMO quickly became a fixture at major Ukrainian festivals such as Jazz Koktebel, Respublica, Taras Bulba, Khortytsia Freedom, GogolFest, and more.
In 2023, the lineup changed, but the project continued — staying true to its distinctive artistic voice.
Genres: Progressive rock, post-rock, psychedelia, Ukrainian folk
Band Members:
• Lyuba Gook – vocals
• Mykhailo Yablochkov – bass
• Alim Minadzhiiev – guitar
• Dmytro Bezruchko – drums
