First edition of Malmö Music Innovation day is a wrap!
Malmö Music Innovation Day Spotlights Artist Support and Regional Culture at NGBG Festival
This year’s Musikbranschdag (Music Industry Day) at the NGBG Festival expanded into the Malmö Music Innovation Day, bringing together artists, tech innovators, and industry actors for a full day-and-night program.
Organized by Musikcentrum Syd in collaboration with Skånsk Live, Pixlar o Ljud, and Malmö Music Tech Drinks, the event set out to explore sustainable solutions and new models for the independent music sector.
The afternoon kicked off at Annelundsgården with lunch and networking. Attendees then gathered for a series of stage presentations, including a panel discussion with moderator Marcus Bader and Hanna Lemoine, writer and ex BIEN-Sweden chairman plus Regin Petersen from Art Music Danmark, on Universal Basic Income (UBI) for artists, examining basic income as a potential framework to support creators in an evolving industry. Additionally, Nils Phillips presented plans and ideas regarding the new culture space and future music venue at Backakåkarna.
The daytime discussions transitioned into an evening of music tech meetups with music tech start-up consultant and speaker Eddie Walker from Whyre out on the NGBG-festival and experimental live performances with visuals at Hypnos art house cinema, marking a successful first prototype for what we hope will become an annual regional gathering for crossover innovation both on and off stage!
