Hialøsa Unveils "Ugge": A Gritty, Avant-Garde Reimagining of Scanian Cult Folklore MALMÖ, SCANDINAVIA, — Renowned for stripping Scanian folk music down to its raw, pulsating bones, the neo-traditional power-trio Hialøsa announces the release of their latest single, "Ugge".

The track serves as a feverish, avant-garde tribute to two monumental cultural touchstones: the legendary, enigmatic cult band Philemon Arthur and the Dung, and the traditional Scanian hypnotic rhyme "Hönsafötter" (Chicken Feet), made famous in seventies by the band Filarfolket.
It is a track where regional heritage meets dadaist expressionism. "We wanted to capture the absolute freedom and unpolished grit that Philemon Arthur and the Dung stands for," says the band. "Blending that aesthetic with the repetitive, almost trance-like nature of 'Hönsafötter', we found a space where the past feels dangerously alive, chaotic, and more traditional than tradition itself." Artistic Style & Profile True to Hialøsa’s signature style, "Ugge" rejects the polished, romanticized version of Nordic folk. Instead, listeners are treated to: Driven, drone-like fiddle and violin textures that scratch beneath the surface.
Heavy, stomping rhythms that feel both ancient and industrial. Raw, expressive vocal delivery that transcends language barriers through sheer visceral energy. Hialøsa’s music is certified "skit-skitgammal" (ancient) yet entirely contemporary. For an international audience, "Ugge" offers an entry point into a side of Scandinavia rarely exported: one that is muddy, hypnotic, fiercely local, and brilliantly bizarre.
