DIGITAL OPEN VENUE - MEET ELSA NILSSON

- A socially engaged jazz artist, educator, with a Special focus on mimicry in nature.

Elsa Nilsson is a flutist and composer from Gothenburg, Sweden, living and active in New York since 2010, where she works as a bandleader and freelance musician. She has released 15 albums as a bandleader and sideman with, among others, Bill Frisell (Sound and Fury, Esthesis Quartet), Jon Cowherd and Chris Morrissey (Atlas Of Sound, Coast Redwoods) and Pulses, which was played here on Radio P2 as a live broadcast from the Viktoriateatern in Malmö.

Nilsson also works as a professor at The New School in New York where she teaches courses in Rhythm, Socially Engaged Artistry, Improvisation and Collaboration, Composition and Ensemble. She has toured North and South America and Europe with her Band Of Pulses and has plans to come to Sweden on tour in March 2027.

Elsa has played at Carnegie Hall with Ravi Coltrane, has received several awards from Chamber Music America and is the winner of the 2018 National Flute Association's Jazz Flute competition.

She also has a special interest for mimikry in nature.

Elsa is also touring in Europe in June and July!
