Baltic Artists Krakow session aug 2022

At the end of august Musikcentrum Syd went to Krakow for almost a week’s long workshop & get together hosted by our colleagues in Poland. After a long pandemic with lots of online work it was nice to meet up IRL again.

The workshops took place at the beautiful Centrum Kultury in Krakow, Poland. Krakow is a buzzing and colorful city with lots of things going on and this location was no exception to that. We spent our days workshopping and visualizing future dreams and scenarios, and listening to interesting speakers about strategy and how tech can change the music industry. We also had speed meetings where everyone got to network with each other.

Except for workshops - of course - there was a lot of MUSIC! We had a gig night where everyone could come together and play. By now, our participants from Poland, Estonia, Ukraine and Sweden know each other quite well so it was more about catching up and being creative together IRL. We were especially happy that our participants from Ukraine were able to take a break from the reality of war to come and join us this week.

Our friends from Poland also hosted a nice evening concert at the big stage. And the week ended with a beautiful piano concert with the talented Baltic artists participant Roman Wroblewksi. After the week we were full of inspiration and lots of ideas for the project and how to keep working creatively to maintain a strong network in these challenging times.

If it’s something that has become apparent to us it’s that strong networks are needed more than ever, and even if we as artists work independently we still need each other for inspiration, contacts and just to frame our work as professional musicians. And this network is something we want to keep working on strengthening and expanding over the Baltic sea.

Thanks to all of our participants and to our great hosts in Poland for making this possible. See you all again in Tallinn in December.
