Jazzahead! is the must-go event for the international jazz industry and the place for high-quality, contemporary jazz from Germany, Europe and overseas. As the world's largest event where all the protagonists of the scene (musicians, labels, agencies, festival makers, bookers and media representatives) meet, it is considered by professional visitors from all over the world as the "Family Reunion of Jazz".

Despite its steady growth, jazzahead! has managed to keep its family character. jazzahead! is not only a trade fair for trade visitors, but also open to the general public - with a program that once a year turns the Hanseatic city of Bremen into a jazz metropolis.

Swedish saxophonist and composer Hannes Bennich is one of the most interesting new voices on the Scandinavian jazz scene. He grew up on the Swedish countryside outside Norrköping and started playing the saxophone when he was 10 years old. When finishing school Hannes decided to study Jazz at a higher level and started at Lunnevad Folkhögskola and later on at Skurup Folkhögskola in southern Sweden before ending his education at Malmö Music Academy. After getting his bachelor degree at Malmö Music Academy he quickly established himself in the Copenhagen/Malmö region as a saxophonist with a unique sound and technical freedom. In 2020 he became member of the ”Kathrine Windfeld Sextet” which has been seen on some of the most prestigious scenes and festivals around Europe.
”When Losing A Dream To Reality” (out on Whirlwind recordings) is Hannes Bennich’s debut album with music inspired by both his and others dreams. The music represents the anxiety, the beauty, the hope and the disappointment a dream can give you. As soon as a dream is fulfilled you can no longer shape it. The dream is now reality and out of your control. It’s terrifying and beautiful at the same time.

In times of great global and private changes Ida Karlsson Wretling has used the emotions of this period as a starting point for writing music for Idka Jazz. With Chapter Two she and her band step into a new phase, sometimes with carefulness and consideration, sometimes with carefree jumps. You can still hear influences från 1950's/1960's jazz in the music – sometimes with a a multitude of meters incorporated but with this album Ida has left the hymn-like harmony behind in order to make room for more modality and emotional storms.

Since the previous album, "The Onion's Core" 2018, the political landscape has been radically changed. We’ve been profoundly affected by a pandemic and the threat of climate change is growing stronger. During these events Ida has gone through a painful separation, via yearning for having a child and into a tough period with IVF-treatment. The songs of the album mirror these events – both the global and the private. Invasiv Blåsippa (Invasive Blue Anemones) is a Povel Ramel-inspired comment on domestic policy in Sweden, Avoid a void is an expression of the feeling of powerlessness before the state of the world and Loppu means simply The End. At the time of the release of Chapter Two Ida has moved out from the city hoping for a new, brighter chapter in life, hopefully with love and music as its main ingredients.

“Undoubtly, Makross has managed to find a sound with a strong foundation in the American jazztradition as well as the Swedish. The group often sounds bigger than it is and even if this a young group, they are so deeply rooted in the tradition that their music should be able to speak to an older audience." - Lennart Götesson, Dala-demokraten”
Makross is a jazz quartet, but also a band in its true sense as they shape the music together in a collective effort. With curiosity and great love for the art they explore different expressions and formats, and are constantly evolving and striving for that magical musical connection with their audience. The Music blends American and Nordic jazz tradition into something swinging, melodic and fun, but there’s also room for contemplation and pensiveness. This is live music, best experienced with some good friends, something to drink and perhaps making some noise when the energy peaks! The instrumentation consists of two saxophones, bass and drums. This lineup without any chord instrument gives Makross their distinctive sound and in many ways opens the music up to a freer approach. Makross has toured since 2011 across Europe, released 4 albums and collaborated with some of the best jazz musicians of the Nordic countries!
