NoRDIC NIGHTS

A live music stage for nordic folk and improvisational music in the heart of Malmö!

As the title of this Live music club suggests "Nordic Nights" aims to book artists from our Nordic neighbors.

By collaborating with other organizers in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark, Nordic Nights will be able to be a stop on a tour around the Nordics.  With Nordic Nights we aim to create a new platform and stage for meetings between people, roots jazz, folk and improvisational music and the idea is also to export the stage to various cities in the Nordics.

In addition to the international collaborations, each night there will be a showcase for a Musikcentrum Syd act. Musikcentrum Syd members also  gets a discount ticket.

ESPEN BERG TRIO                                                                              Espen Berg, piano // Bárður Reinert Poulsen, bass // Simon Albertsen, drums                                                   Espen Berg Trio is an award-winning piano trio from Norway. Outselling concert halls in Tokyo, Guangzhou, Kyoto and Hong Kong, the trio is already making a mark way outside their home country and was declared an important new voice in the crowded field of post-E.S.T. trios by Jazz Journal (UK) in 2019. Their music might bring associations to Brad Mehldau, Keith Jarrett, Shai Maestro or Tigran Hamasyan, but is primarily a personal addition to the legacy of the piano trio and the evolution of the Nordic jazzscene, lead by a combination of strong melodies, rhythmic complexity, immense technical abilities and a playful interaction.

In beautiful and contrasting arrangements, tones and words that tell about a Sweden of the past from a modern perspective. Under the program title "Aftonro och Förhoppning", the timelessness they find in Allan's work is portrayed and celebrated. With roots in both jazz and folk music tradition, the trio takes you on a musical journey where swing and creative color shifts are the focus.

Kompositionerna bottnar i pop och jazz med inspiration från den klassiska romantiken. Dessa scenografiska element bär sedan upp en berättelse fylld av spontanitet, känslor och dramatik.
