EU JAZZ WOMEN is Carita Boronska (vocals/piano/composition), Mar Sánchez (guitar), Luca Kézdy (violin), Patti Ballinas (drums).  EU JAZZ WOMEN starts in the north with Swedish/Polish singer, songwriter, composer Carita Boronska - passes through Hungary where we find Luca Kézdy on violin - then reaches Mallorca/Spain to find Scottish/Mexican Patti Ballinas on drums and ends in the south with guitarist/composer Mar Sánchez, Seville/Spain.

Ellen Pettersson

Trumpeter and composer Ellen Pettersson combines flugelhorns with live electronics and synths to create vast, atmospheric sound worlds. With swinging grooves and punk bass lines, music is created that moves in the borderland between jazz and pop. Her first solo record "ORIGO" was released on the Flora and Fauna label in May 2022. The music is instrumental, thoughtful and hopeful and is best described as "the night bus on the way home".

When Losing A Dream To Reality is Hannes Bennich’s debut album with music inspired by both his and others dreams. The music represents the anxiety, the beauty, the hope and the disappointment a dream can give you. As soon as a dream is fulfilled you can no longer shape it. The dream is now reality and out of your control. It’s terrifying and beautiful at the same time.

Anna-Karin Andersson started playing “Slängpolska” from Småland and then later she fell in love with the folk music from our neighboring country Norway. With studies in Malung and the World Music Program in Gothenburg in her luggage. Over the years she freelanced in many different constellations, among others award-winning Maine Coon trio. Anna-Karin is also a frequent employee dance musician, holds courses and workshops in Nordic folk music and is a violin teacher at Skurup folk high school. Next, she holds a course at Malmö Folk Festival, and later this autumn there will be a premiere for “ulvaKarin”, a folk music duo together with Jens Ulvsand.

Anna Rynefors is an active freelance musician and valued family entertainer who always meets the audience and creates a shared experience that captures everyone in the moment. Starting with the violin, she also plays surprisingly many other musical instruments! With nyckelharpa, Swedish bagpipes, medieval fiddle, percussion, harp, Viking-era lyre and song, she can entertain audiences or lead courses.

Ba Balance is a new, award-nominated duo consisting of Danish guitarist Preben Carlsen and Gambian percussionist Sal Dibba. They mix dirty desert rock with rhythms from Central and West Africa and spice up their groovy sound with influences from psychedelic rock and blues. "Rocking electric guitar and percussion duets, like an African White Stripes." wrote the English world music magazine Songlines.

Hialøsa is a trio playing traditional music from the Scandinavian region of Scania. The trio is currently active with the concert “Scanian very old pop”. The concert is based on traditional music material, fragments, songs and new compositions. Traditional, disruptive and honest. Feet stomping, energetic and always shifting, driven by intense violins and a rythmical bass. Songs about life and death, remembrance of a past looking towards the future.

Yasmine Baramawy is an Egyptian musician, sound artist, oud performer and composer based in Malmö, Sweden. She has developed an original sound universe around her practice of the oud (modified and augmented by a low string) but also around concrete music and other electronic experiments. She plays one of the world’s oldest instruments yet she manages to work with a curious blend of different approaches and genres.

ORQUESTA TANGARTE

Orquesta Tangarte is an Argentinean-Swedish tango orchestra, founded in 1999 in Malmö, Sweden, by the bandoneonist Juanjo Passo with the purpose of performing and spreading tango music from its birthplace, Rio de la Plata.  

The orchestra’s music is the tango from Rio de la Plata, a repertoire with a great variety from the 1940’s and -50’s up to this date. Well-known composers like D’Arienzo, Di Sarli, Troilo, Gobbi, Pugliese and Piazzolla, to mention a few, are part of this repertoire.
