Swedish-based Indie Folk Duo. Debut EP “Pockets Full of Sand” was recorded in Nashville with Shani Gandhi (Sarah Jarosz etc.) behind the recording console. A full length album named Cold War is being recorded this fall, closer to their Nordic roots both in sound and location.
The EP was written and recorded during the duo's time in Nashville, TN, where they moved to dig into the roots of country, american folk and bluegrass. After a year of inspiration in Tennessee, they flew home with not only an education in music production, but also a half-finished EP recorded by Shani Gandhi behind the console (Sarah Jarosz and Parker Millsap). The sessions took place in Gary Paczosa's home studio, specially built for Alison Krauss in her old garage. Once home, Lakely finished the record and now it's ready to be released!
What it sounds like? Imagine Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings playing music with Fleetwood Mac under the midsummer night’s sun. Add an experimental recording of your grandmother’s harmonium, and ridiculous amounts of coffee, and you’re hearing Lakely.
"Lakely is a Swedish group who has devoted itself to a modern bluegrass instrumentation and simple but effective arrangements. Lakely shines by being a team of really talented musicians (and singers!), and by a feeling for those melodies that gets stuck in your head.”
