Swedish-based Indie Folk Duo. Debut EP “Pockets Full of Sand” was recorded in Nashville with Shani Gandhi (Sarah Jarosz etc.) behind the recording console. A full length album named Cold War is being recorded this fall, closer to their Nordic roots both in sound and location.

ORQUESTA TANGARTE
Orquesta Tangarte is an Argentinean-Swedish tango orchestra, founded in 1999 in Malmö, Sweden, by the bandoneonist Juanjo Passo with the purpose of performing and spreading tango music from its birthplace, Rio de la Plata.
The orchestra’s music is the tango from Rio de la Plata, a repertoire with a great variety from the 1940’s and -50’s up to this date. Well-known composers like D’Arienzo, Di Sarli, Troilo, Gobbi, Pugliese and Piazzolla, to mention a few, are part of this repertoire.
Moaivi
In Moaivi Love Kjellsson is collaborating with Sami-singer Johanna Sevä. Together they are creating modern Sami & Scandinavian music. “It’s a meeting of two individuals with radically different backgrounds but a common aim of expressing their thoughts and feelings.”
Floating Sofa Quartet
Floating Sofa Quartet is a modern Nordic folk music ensemble consisting of four young musicians from Denmark, Sweden and Finland. With a unique combination of acoustic instruments the quartet performs handmade music with a scent of dewy pine trees, salty sea breezes and freshly brewed coffee.
SOUSOU & MAHER CISSOKO
Multiple award-winning Senegalese/Swedish duo Sousou & Maher Cissoko are crossing borders in their music just like in their life together. Constantly on the move with musical and human meetings as their principal driving force. Maher was born to play kora and Sousou is one of very few female kora players in the world.
LAMINE CISSOKHO
Lamine Cissokho is a kora player born in Senegal. He is a descendant of well-know mandingo musicians, whose traditions date back to the14th century. Lamine belongs to the elite among kora players. His music is a unique crossover between mandinka traditions, jazz, worldmusic and virtuosic improvisations.
Lelo Nika
Lelo Nika, double winner of the title “Accordion World Champion”, comes from the village of Nikolinci, eighty kilometres north of Belgrade. In 1970, the one year old Lelo moved with his parents to Denmark and settled in Helsingør. Today, Lelo lives in Malmö, in the south of Sweden.
Trio Wolski
Trio Wolski's music is a mixture of traditional Nordic folk melodies and own compositions. Sophisticated arrangements are varied with free improvisations and with their special instrumentation, they create a sound that constantly shifts in dynamics and intensities.
The group has its base in folk music, but that has not prevented them from breaking the tradition and giving concerts outside the traditional folk & world music scene.
ANNA FÄLT
Anna Fält performs Scandinavian and Fenno-Ugric tradition as well as own material: ancient spells and incantation texts, herding calls, lullabies, yoik, stories from the forests and the Nordic landscapes.
The feedback most often heard from Anna Fälts audience is “I’ve never heard anything like this before”. And that is true: it’s very rare to hear one human voice, just singing. But it is more than “just singing”: folk singing traditions offer so many ways to use this versatile instrument that no other instruments are needed!
IDKA JAZZ
ALBUM RELEASE 20TH APRIL!
On The Onion's Core saxophonist Ida Karlsson has done some soul-searching, revealing a dismissal of excess and a return to her familial roots.
Ida's composing has resulted in eight rather distinctive jazz pieces. In one piece, traces of gospel hymns can be found; another harks back to traditional Swedish folk; while still other pieces maintain a more subtle complexity. "Baking" is a blues piece inspired by Swedish folk music and Jimmy Giuffre. "Popish" is a five-stroke play off of pop music and jazz harmonies.
The quartet IDKA JAZZ was founded in Malmö, Sweden in the spring of 2017.
FANNY GUNNARSSON QUARTET
Impressionist and dissonant. Melodic and dynamic. Expressive and playful. Fanny Gunnarsson Quartet lets different components reflects and shines through each other to create music that touches you and at the same time makes you want to move along. Sometimes there are lyrics to the songs; sometimes the music speaks for itself. The soprano saxophone and the piano unites in strong and powerful melodies that push the music forward or rest calmly on top of the double bass and drums. The result is delivered with love and great devotions towards the music and each other.
WE FLOAT
We Float brings the listener on a journey of dramatically changing landscapes. What may seem peaceful and quiet can suddenly blow up to a heavy storm. We Float is a journey between acoustic and electronic, between hope and despair, between pop and jazz. The music is written by bass player Anne Marte Eggen. The band is currently working on their second album, which is expected to be released in the fall of 2018.
HELLSKOTTA
Hellskotta is a jazz constellation formed by five musicians with differing roots in jazz, afro, ethnic, classical music and hip hop. The meeting evolves into an outgoing groove jazz where the focus is on rhythms, moods, melodies and communication. The group is performing original compositions, where loops and samples are adding up to the organic sound.
The second album “Kuling” was released in april 2017 on Periferi Records and has received many positiv reviews.
SOFI HELLBORG GANG
The Gang is tight and energetic and offers wonderful Afro grooves with jazzy improvisations that make it lively, emotional and danceable. Sofi Hellborg is an established saxophonist, singer and composer and has released eight cd's. She has played with Mory Kante, Wasis Diop, Tony Allen and Etienne Mbappe. She lived and worked in London and Paris for 16 years, and has performed in many countries worldwide. Since 1999 she has her base in Sweden.
